This year’s Annual Fellowship Meeting (AFM) on 13 July 2024 invited the Christian healthcare community to rally around the firm hope provided by a biblical view of mental health.

Asst Prof Chan Lai Gwen, Senior Consultant in Psychiatry at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, shared her personal discipleship journey caring for patients with mental health disorders, learning to minister as a wounded healer and embracing the importance of Sabbath rest. The meeting was also inspired and encouraged by the personal testimony of a Christian brother who found Christ to be faithful and true in the midst of the deepest darkness of depression. Finally, Mr David Blakely, counsellor and pastoral team member with Wesley Counselling Services, shed light on the shocking prevalence of mental health disorders among healthcare workers in Singapore and worldwide, calling on attendees to advocate for change at the organisational level while learning to journey personally with colleagues and friends struggling with mental health challenges.
